LessonTrack is an interactive online tool that allows music instructors to create an enhanced and more efficient lesson experience.
With LessonTrack, each student is given an online account, which they can log in to through our website. During and after each lesson, you can post a recap of what was discussed that day. You can record video of important ideas during the lesson, and post those to the account as well. If during the week your student has a question for you regarding what they're practicing, they can post a comment on the LessonTrack entry for that week, to which you can respond with another comment.
Our goal is to make music as enjoyable as possible for students taking private lessons. As teachers, we all know the drill. Many, perhaps most, of our students don't practice as much as they should. LessonTrack changes that. With LessonTrack, there is a much greater possibility of music becoming a part of daily life for students. Logging in, checking to see if there are any updates from you and leaving comments can be fun, and part of their daily schedule.
Another great advantage that comes with using LessonTrack is increased involvement from parents. Parents can log in and see what their child is supposed to practice that week. Also, videos of their child playing during lessons are a great reminder of the progress being made.
We started LessonTrack for use in our studio in Yorba Linda, CA. When we started it, we weren't sure how things would go. We hoped our students would enjoy it, but were well aware that the opposite might be true. After a year of use, we are happy to report that LessonTrack has been a huge success in our studio. The vast majority of our students take full advantage of the service, logging in weekly to see what their teacher has posted for them. The video element has proven especially useful. The response to LessonTrack has been so great, we've decided to share the experience.
